ITHACA, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed Sunday at Cornell's Big Red Invitational.
The Bulls hit a pair of Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers and had 18 top-five finishes.
Laurent Dure' cleared 2.04 meters in the high jump to meet the MAC qualifier and place second. Also finishing with a runner-up mark, Kaishaun Cathey posted a MAC-good mark of 14.80 meters in the triple jump on his first attempt.
The Bulls had two event winners. Adam Hume was victorious in the pole vault clearing 4.75 meters, while Jake Wray was one thousandth of a second shy of the MAC qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles winning the race in 14.50.
Meagan Hopkins was the runner-up in the 3,000 steeplechase with an 11:24.91 finish. Gabby Leo took bronze in the 3,000 run with a time of 10:44.52 and Brianna Colello ran fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:05.44. Fabiola Oubida and Lauren Jenney went three-four in the 800 run with times of 2:17.59 and 2:18.99, respectively.
The men had three finish third on the track. Jalen Law did so in the 200 dash crossing the finish line in 22.28. Mike Morgan was third in the 400 in 49.51 and Frankie Pfeil ran third in the 5K in 15:44.16.
Barrett Kemp finished fifth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:04.77.
The Bulls return to Cornell for the Cornell Outdoor Invitational on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
