AZUSA, CA – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's outdoor track & field teams were represented Wednesday at the Mt. SAC Relays and the California Invitational Combined Events. Junior Mike Morgan competed in the Mt. SAC Relays decathlon and senior Emma Siuciak did so in the California Invitational heptathlon. Both rank fourth after day one of competition.
After a stellar first day of competition, Siuciak sits fourth out of 50 competitors through four events with 3,303 points. She ranks second amongst collegiate talent in attendance. Siuciak opened the day with a 14.51 finish in the 100-meter high hurdles to finish with the eighth-best time. She went on to finish second in the high jump with a clear of 1.77 meters, six centimeters higher than the next best jumper. She had an 11.57-meter heave in the shot put to rank sixth, before closing out the day with a time of 25.72 in the 200.
Morgan ranks fourth out of 20 competitors tallying 4,033 points on Wednesday. He recorded a personal-best 100 dash time of 11.03 to open the meet. He secured a mark of 7.06 meters in the long jump before posting an outdoor PR in the shot put with a toss of 13.24 meters. Morgan won the high jump clearing 2.09 meters. The next best jump was 2.03 meters. Morgan closed out day one with a 50.71 finish in the 400 dash.
The duo will resume competition Thursday. The Bulls' top distance crew will compete at Princeton Friday night and the remainder of the team will travel to Cornell on Saturday.
