Lyttle Hurdles Her Way to MAC Academic Honor

BUFFALO, NY – Sophomore University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's track & field student-athlete Christine Lyttle was named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week Wednesday.

Saturday, in the Bulls' first outdoor meet of 2015, Lyttle raced to victory in the 100-meter hurdles at the Cincinnati Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. She won the race in a MAC-qualifying 14.17, defeating nine other competitors and the second-place finisher by over half a second. Lyttle tallied 10 points with the win to help UB to a third-place finish out of 16 teams with 103 points scored.

This is the fifth time this academic year that UB has had a student-athlete honored. Shannon Evans earned the award Week 17, Mackenzie Loesing tallied recognition in Week 18 and Evans and Kristen Sharkey received praise in Week 27.

The T&F teams return to action Thursday at the Rochester Alumni Invitational and Friday and Saturday at the Florida Relays and the Princeton Sam Howell Invitational.
