Bulls Take Down Another Pair of School Records Saturday at SPIRE DI Invite

GENEVA, OH – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed Saturday at the SPIRE Division I Invitational. Emma Siuciak set a new school record in the high jump and Tyler Scheving did so in the 800-meter run, his second program record in as many days, on day two of the meet.

Siuciak snapped Shelly Hamilton's 1998 record of 1.77 meters with her third attempt at 1.78 meters to place third out of 25 jumpers. It was one of UB's 10 Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers on the day. Scheving met another rewriting his own school record in the 800. He clocked a 1:49.25 finish to erase his 2014 record-holding time of 1:50.09.

In his first competition of 2015, Jonathan Jones placed first out of 31 throwers in the shot put. He recorded a 19.91-meter heave, just four centimeters shy of his school record, beating the second-place finisher from Ohio State by 88 centimeters. The toss met the MAC AQ. Devon Patterson placed 10th in the event with a mark of 16.23 meters.

The women hit four additional MAC qualifiers. Kelly Truppo placed sixth in the pole vault clearing 3.95 meters. Meghan Manley ran eighth in the 800 in 2:09.94. Two Bulls hit the qualifier in the 60 hurdles. Kailyn Arcury placed ninth in the finals with a time of 8.59, improving her preliminary time by .03 seconds. Christine Lyttle did so with an 8.68 finish in the prelims to finish 12th.

A trio of men hit MAC AQs on the track. Brian Crimmins clocked a 4:10.36 finish in the mile to place third. Mike Morgan and Jake Wray recorded times of 8.16 and 8.18, respectively, to finish 11th and 13th in the 60 hurdle prelims.

Three Bulls narrowly missed MAC qualifiers. Darien Johnson qualified for the 60 dash finals with a prelim time of 6.88. Chris Reape cleared 2.06 meters in the high jump to place second out of 33 jumpers and Austin Ashby finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 7.06 meters.

Austin Price finished eighth in the triple with a mark of 14.03 meters.

The men's 4x400 team finished 6th with a time of 3:14.04, while the women finished 8th with a time of 3:45.27.

The Bulls will next compete on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Cornell's Marc Deneault Invitational, its final meet before the 2015 MAC Indoor Championships.
