STATE COLLEGE, PA – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's indoor track & field teams concluded competition Saturday at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup. Both teams placed fifth overall.
Tallying 60 points, the men met five Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers highlighted by Mike Morgan setting a new pole vault school record. The women scored 48 points and hit two MAC AQs.
Morgan rewrote Craig Howard's school record of 5.15 meters, while the pair cleared MAC qualifiers to place third and sixth, respectively. Morgan cleared 5.21 meters and Howard 5.01 meters to score nine points for the Bulls.
The men had a pair place in the 800-meter run and the shot put. Tyler Scheving clocked a 1:50.86 800 to finish fifth and Tom Meehan followed in 1:52.48 good for seventh. Scheving hit the MAC AQ. Devon Patterson also met the qualifier with a fourth-place heave of 17.40 meters in the shot put. Ryan Cribbin placed sixth in the event with a 16.52-meter toss.
Brian Crimmins raced to a 4:09.12 finish in the mile to place sixth and add his list to the conference-qualifying list.
Chris Reape cleared 2.01 meters in the high jump to earn silver.
Jalen Law and Joshua Gali raced to seventh-place finishes in the dashes. Law ran the 200 in 21.97 and Gali finished the 400 in 48.84. The men's 4x400 relay of Gali, Brian Cummiskey, Treyvon Mask and Mitchell Moore placed third in 3:14.72.
The Bulls return to action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14 at the SPIRE Division I Invitational in Geneva, OH.
