UB Indoor T&F Teams Compete Friday at Penn State

Day One Results

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed Friday at day one of Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup.

The Bulls placed six individuals and one relay in the women's events and four individuals and one relay in the men's, while hitting five Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers.

Kelly Truppo scored in a pair of events for the Bulls. She was the runner-up with a MAC-qualifying clear of 3.91 meters in the pole vault. She also placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.49 meters. Just two centimeters shy of the qualifier, Tyra Forbes earned bronze in the long with a mark of 5.72 meters.

Kailyn Arcury and Christine Lyttle placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Arcury clocked a MAC-qualifying time of 8.66, while Lyttle finished in 8.93. Camaria Long raced to a third-place finish in the 60 dash finals in 7.64.

The Bulls' distance medley relay of Melinda Wheeler, Brianna Colello, Corinne Birchard and Amy Shaw placed fourth with a time of 11:43.21.

For the men, Mike Morgan and Jake Wray each clocked MAC-good times in the hurdles. Morgan ran sixth in 8.12 and Wray seventh in 8.15.

Darien Johnson also secured a MAC qualifier in the 60 dash. He finished fourth in 6.87 and Brian Cummiskey followed with a time of 6.90 to place eighth.

Tom Meehan, Tyler Scheving, Derek Palafox and Austin Coneys teamed together on the men's DMR to finish fourth in 10:12.96.

The Bulls will conclude competition Saturday at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup.
