BUFFALO, NY – Two University at Buffalo, State University of New York indoor track & field student-athletes broke school records en route to being named Mid-American Conference Athletes of the Week Tuesday. Junior Camaria Long was named MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and classmate Mike Morgan MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after weekend performances at Cornell's Upstate Challenge.
Long raced to a runner-up finish of 5.59 out of 50 competitors in the 60-meter dash. She set a new school record of 5.57 in the preliminaries.
Morgan scored the third-best mark in the nation with a MAC-leading point total of 5,772 in the heptathlon. His mark rewrote his own school record. Morgan set three personal-best marks including the high jump (third in the MAC with a 2.10m clear), the pole vault (fourth in the MAC with a 5.00m clear) and a toss of 13.09 meters in the shot put.
UB will return to action on Jan. 30-31 at the PSU National Meet and the SPIRE Midwest Open.
