GAINESVILLE, FL - The University at Buffalo track and field teams wrapped up the Florida Relays on Saturday afternoon with multiple strong performances. Senior Jonathan Jones collected his second victory of the weekend as he won the shot put event.
UB field athletes had the most impressive showing on Saturday at the Florida Relays, led by Jones who continued to dominate in the shot put, winning the event with a season-best throw of 64-05.75 (19.65m). On the women's side, Megan Patterson recorded a seventh place finish in the shot put with a throw of 49-09.75 (15.18m) and 14th place in the hammer throw with a toss of 164-08 (50.20m).
Evan Palmer was impressive once again as he followed up his hammer throw victory on Friday with a sixth place finish in the Discus Invite with a throw of 177-02 (54.01m). Craig Howard had a strong showing in the pole vault as he recorded a second place finish, clearing a height of 16-08.75 (5.10m). Sophomore Mike Morgan took home 17th place in the same event, clearing a height of 15-09.00 (4.80m).
Austin Price got on track in the triple jump on Saturday with an impressive seventh place finish with a season-best leap of 49-11.00 (15.21m). The Bulls also had two athletes compete in the high jump as John Strickland and Chris Reape tied for 21st place, clearing a height of 6-07.00 (2.01m).
Buffalo had five relay teams compete on day two of the event. Finishing with the best result was the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Crystal Graham, Asia Henry, Camaria Long and Donna Jeanty. They recorded a 12th place finish in 3:39.35, breaking the school record, that stood for two seasons, by over a second.
The women's 4x100 meter relay quartet of Malayah White, Lauren Sullivan, Long and Graham finished in 26th place in 45.98 seconds. The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Darien Johnson, Miles Lewis, Jalen Law and Ryan Billian recorded a 14th place finish with a school record time of 40.29 seconds.
Running in the 4x200 meter relay for the first time this season, Joshua Gali, Lewis, Law and Billian collected a 16th place finish in a near school record time of 1:25.71 while the 4x400 meter relay squad of Howard, Gali, Morgan and Tyler Scheving finished in 41st place in 3:14.54.
The Bulls will return to the track on Saturday, April 12 as they will travel to Lewisburg, PA for the Bison Open.
