PRINCETON, NJ - The University at Buffalo distance runners took to the track on Friday afternoon at the Sam Howell Invite, hosted by Princeton University. The Bulls had a total of seven runners competing in various events on day one of the meet.
Leading the way for the Bulls was senior Kara Patrick who recorded an eighth place finish in the 10,000 meter run. Appearing in her first meet of the outdoor season, Patrick finished the event with a season-best time of 38:02.63.
Junior Chrissy Clarkin was able to collect a 12th place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Friday as she finished with a time of 11:13.62, her second best time of the outdoor season. In the 5,000 meter run, freshman Meagan Hopkins put together a nice showing as she finished in 37th place in a career-best time of 18:03.96.
The Bulls had four runners competing in the 1,500 meter run on Friday and they were led by freshman Melinda Wheeler who recorded a 26th place finish in 4:45.84. Not far behind was fellow freshman Corinne Birchard who finished in 28th place with a time of 4:46.38. Fabiola Oubida finished in 35th place in 4:55.55 while Hilary Swartwood came in 37th place in 5:02.14.
The Bulls distance runners will return to the track next Saturday and Sunday as they will head to Lewisburg, PA for the Bison Open.
