YPSILANTI, MI - The University at Buffalo's men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished competition at the Eastern Michigan Invitational with nine event winners combined. The UB men came in third place while the women came in fourth place in the field of all MAC schools.
The Buffalo men dominated the 60 meter dash on Saturday as Ryan Billian set a personal best mark of 6.77 seconds en route to a first place finish. Miles Lewis took home second place for the Bulls in 6.81 seconds and Jalen Law recorded the third place finish.
The Bulls also continued their dominance in the shot put and weight throw as they earned four victories on the afternoon. On the men's side, Jonathan Jones recorded a throw of 62-07.25 (19.08m) in the shot put to take home first place while Evan Palmer won the weight throw for the third time this season with a throw of 67-00.50 (20.43m). On the women's side, Megan Patterson turned in victories in both the shot put and weight throw. In shot put, Patterson recorded a throw of 50-08.00 (15.44m) while she set a personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 17.99 meters.
The Buffalo women had another strong showing in the pole vault as Kelly Truppo took home the first place finish with a vault of 13-01.50 (4.0m). Jenn Thill and Jenna Van Dusen also had strong finishes for the Bulls, finishing third and fourth respectively.
On the track, the women turned in victories in the 400 meter and 800 meter dashes. In the 400 meter dash, Donna Jeanty continued to impress with a first place finish in 56.74 seconds. Asia Henry picked up her first victory of the season in the 800 meter dash in 2:10.53. Caroline Brown, Regine Lazard and Fabiola Oubida also picked up top six finishes for the Bulls.
On the field, Buffalo's John Strickland turned in a personal best performance in the high jump with a leap of 2.06 meters and a first place finish.
Lewis and Billian continued their strong afternoon for the Bulls as they took home second and third place finishes while Law came in fifth. In the 800 meter dash, Brian Crimmins turned in a solid performance as he finished in third place in 1:53.92 while Ben Reinhardt came in fourth in 1:55.71.
In the mile run, Corinne Birchard performed well with a second place finish in 4:56.75. Camaria Long turned in a nice performance in the 60 meter dash on Saturday as she finished in fourth place in 7.80 seconds. Lauren Sullivan and Malayah White also recorded top-10 finishes for the Bulls in the 60 meter dash.
UB's 4x400 meter relay team of Tyler Scheving, Crimmins, Cory McCarty, and Reinhardt turned in a solid third place finish for the Bulls, trailing only Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. The Bulls team finished in 3:22.87.
Buffalo will return to the track on Saturday, February 8 as they travel to State College, Pennsylvania for the Sykes-Sabock invite.
