UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams made final preparations for next week's Mid-American Conference Championships with several top performances at Penn State's Jim Thorpe Open. There was no team scoring in the meet although the Bulls and the Nittany Lions were the only teams competing along with some unattached entries.
Anna Holmes set a new personal record with her victory in the 400-meters in 56.17. Aimee Hopkins led the Bulls to the top three places in the women's 800-meters. Hopkins turned in a season-best of 2:16.01 to take the first-place finish. Sam Beim posted a season-best 2:17.97 in finishing second while Jackie Cavalluzzo was third in 2:31.71.
For the UB men, Andre Britton won the 100-meters in 10.79. Joe Payton took the 400-meter hurdles in 54.78 with Doug Hannon finishing second in 55.35. Daniel Reynolds won the men's pole vault at 14-7.25 (4.45m).
The Bulls travel to Mt. Pleasant, MI for next week's MAC Outdoor Championships. Action at Central Michigan University is slated to start at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11. Competition begins at 11:00 on Saturday, May 12.
