ITHACA, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams finished the regular season on Saturday at Cornell's Marc Denault Invitational. There was no team scoring in the meet as the Bulls rested many of their top athletes in preparation for next weekend's Mid-American Conference Championships.
Kristy Woods earned Field Athlete of the Meet honors as she won two events in leading the Bulls on Saturday. Woods extended her season-best with a victory in the women's weight throw at 61-10.50 (18.86m), adding nearly 4.5 inches onto her previous top mark which she set last weekend. Woods also scored a first-place finish in the women's shot put with a toss of 50-1.75 (15.28m). Rachel Roberts finished second to Woods in the shot put at 47-10 (14.58m) while Erin Miller was third to Woods in the weight throw at 56-5.25 (17.20m), extending her season-best by 5.25 inches.
Ayo Ehindero finished second in the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.79 seconds. Ehindero sliced .16 seconds from her top mark as the Bulls had three entrants in the finals. Kristina Arcury also set a season-best with her 9.01 clocking to finish fifth while Emma Siuciak was seventh in 9.10 after setting a season-best 9.01 in the preliminary heats. Arcury also set a season-best in the women's 200-meters in 26.96 to finish sixth. Siuciak set a season-best in the women's long jump at 17-4 (5.28m) for sixth place.
Tomarris Bell led the UB men with a second-place finish in the triple jump. Bell cleared 46-10.25 (14.28m) to set a season-best by almost four feet. Bell also finished seventh in the men's 60-meters in 7.11 seconds.
Brian Archie also scored a season-best leap in the men's long jump as he took third place at 22-10 (6.96m) as he added 14 inches to his best performance.
The Bulls begin the postseason next week at the MAC Championships. Competition at the University of Akron is slated for Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25.
