  • Women's Track and Field Team Earns All‐Academic Status

    The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the women’s 2011 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Teams on July 26, with the women’s track and field team making the list of 171 institutions. The team earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.21.

    Following her performance at the Jamacian Olympic Trials this past weekend, Buffalo sprinter Asia Henry has been chosen to represent Jamaica at the NACAC Under-23 Championships, which are being held from July 6-8 in Guanajuato, Mexico. Henry will be one of three Jamaicans represented in the 800m.

Throwers Rob Golabek and Becky O’Brien will compete at the U.S. Trials in Eugene, OR, while sprinter Asia Henry will compete in the 800m at the Jamaican Trials next week.

    Three days after junior Asia Henry became a second-team All-American in the 800m, senior Rob Golabek earned his All-American honors Saturday morning in the shot put. Golabek finished 12th of 24 participants as he was also named a second-team All-American.

    University at Buffalo track and field senior Dylan Conway has been named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District First Team. Conway is not only a distance runner on the track and field team, but also a member of the UB Cross Country Team. This is the second straight year that he has been named to the All-District First Team.

Head coach Vicki Mitchell and her staff made the following presentations: Emma Siuciak was named as Top Newcomer; Asia Henry earned the Most Improved Award; Brooklynn Ventura won the Coaches' Award and Becky O'Brien was selected as the Most Valuable Athlete for the second consecutive season.
