BUFFALO, NY - Head cross country and women's track and field coach Vicki Mitchell has announced the addition of numerous individuals who will be joining the Bulls for the 2011-12 season.
"We are very excited about the additions for this year," said Mitchell. "This is one of our best incoming classes and we have high expectations for these student-athletes to succeed both academically and athletically."
Emma Siuciak (E.L. Crossley Secondary School, Fenwick, Ontario) is the OFSAA High Jump Champion with a personal best of 5'9.25", and a superior hurdler.
"I am more than excited to work with her over the course of her career at UB," said assistant coach Steve Esler. "She shows amazing potential in the heptathlon. She is one of Canada's premier combined-event athletes and will be a national level competitor while at the University at Buffalo."
Kelly Truppo (Alden High School, Alden NY) is one of the top Pole Vaulters coming out of New York State. She comes in with a personal best of 12'6", and will add great depth to the Pole Vault.
"Kelly will add depth and made our program stronger," said pole vaulting coach Tiffany Maskulinski.
Leah Rice (Holland-Patent High School, Prospect, NY) is a multiple time NYS championship qualifier in both Cross Country and Track & Field. With a personal best of 4:44.06/1500m, she will be strong contributor to the middle and distance team. Also adding to the distance team is Gabby Leo (Immaculata Academy, Buffalo, NY), with a personal best of 4:43.92/1500m and experience at the State Federation Championships in Cross Country.
Joining the middle distance team is local standout Meghan Manley (Orchard Park High School, Orchard Park, NY). Meghan comes in with personal bests of 56.01/400m and 2:14.02/800m. Meghan will carry on the tradition of the strong middle distance runners at UB.
Others joining the incoming freshmen 2011 class are distance runners Christina Clarkin (Monroe-Woodbury High School, Highland Mills, NY), Megan Conway (Saratoga Springs High School, Saratoga Springs, NY), Maggie Russell (Lockport High School, Lockport NY), and middle distance runners Molly Halpin (Webster Thomas High School, Webster, NY), and Uwa Omoregbe (Colonie High School, Niskyuana, NY).
