MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – While many of the University at Buffalo's men's and women's track and field athletes competed in Texas, the remainder of the squad traveled to Western Pennsylvania for the Robert Morris Bennie Benson Invitational. The combined men's and women's squads won 11 events on the day.
The Bulls swept the discus throws and nearly took both hammer throws on Saturday. In the men's discus, Evan Palmer finished with a top mark of 48.07m and also won the hammer throw at 58.15m. Erin Miller won the women's discus at 42.62m. She finished second in the women's hammer at 49.15.
On the track, Anna Holmes was a double winner as she took the women's 200- and 400-meter races. Holmes won the 200-meter distance in 25.70 seconds and claimed the 400 in 57.85. Andre Britton won the men's 100-meters in 11.18.
UB also swept the sprint hurdles events. Austin Archibald won the men's 110-meter hurdles in 15.53 with teammate Kevin Enck finishing second in 16.05. Ayo Ehindero won the women's 100-meter hurdles in 15.24.
Kelsey Fitzgerald won the women's 3,000-meter run in 10:58.02 while Peter Bligh took first place in the men's high jump at 1.95m.
The Bulls also won the men's 4x100-meter relay as Chris Davis, Archibald, Jamal Norward and Britton finished in 42.41.
UB returns to the Keystone State next weekend as the Bulls will participate in Lewisburg at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.
