  • O’Brien And White Join Women’s Team With USTFCCCA Academic Awards

    The University at Buffalo women’s track and field team was well represented as All-Academic selections were made by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Bulls were honored as a team, while a pair of throwers all stood out in the classroom.

    The University at Buffalo women's outdoor track and field squad announced its team awards for the 2011 season. Head coach Vicki Mitchell and her staff made the following presentations: Asia Henry was named as Top Newcomer; Shante' White earned the Most Improved Award; Anna Holmes won the Coaches' Award and Becky O'Brien was selected as the Most Valuable Performer.

    The University at Buffalo men's outdoor track and field squad announced its team awards for the 2011 season. Head coach Perry Jenkins and his staff made the following presentations: Evan Palmer was named as Top Newcomer; Ryan Bloom earned the Most Improved Award; Will Cole won the Coaches' Award and Rob Golabek was selected as the Most Valuable Performer.
  • Bulls Have Strong Showing At USATF Nationals & Jr. Nationals

    Four members of the University at Buffalo Track and Field Team were in Eugene, OR this past weekend competing in the USATF Nationals and Junior Nationals. UB’s standout throwers Rob Golabek and Becky O’Brien competed at Nationals, while rising stars Donna Jeanty and Zach Ahart ran events in the Junior Nationals.
  • Three Bulls Named Academic All-MAC

    Three members of the men’s and women’s track and field team were named to the Academic All-MAC team, the conference office announced on Tuesday. All three of UB’s members were MAC Champions at the Outdoor Conference Championships.
  • O’Brien Competes in the Shot Put at NCAA Championships

    University at Buffalo thrower Becky O’Brien competed in her second event at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The sophomore finished 17th out of 24 competitors in the shot put with a top throw of 52-7.5 (16.04 m).
  • Golabek Earns Second-Team All-America Honors at NCAAs

    University at Buffalo thrower Rob Golabek competed in the shot put on Friday in the opening round of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field hosted by Drake University. After a long weather delay, the junior thrower finished in 11th place - falling just short of advancing in the competition. The top nine finishers advanced to the finals. However, his 11th place finish earned him second-team All-America honors.
  • Discus Competition Completes First Day At NCAA Championships

    Two throwers for the University at Buffalo competed on the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as Becky O’Brien and Matt Gac both competed in the discus.
  • Throwers Dominate USTFCCCA Regional Awards

    The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday the 73 award winners of USTFCCCA Regional Awards for the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. Honored for the Bulls are standout throwers Rob Golabek and Becky O’Brien, as well as throwing coach Jim Garnham.

    University at Buffalo throwers Matt Gac and Becky O’Brien earned trips to the NCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships as they finished among the top 12 in men’s and women’s discus as the East Region Preliminary Rounds came to a close at Indiana University on Saturday.

  • Bulls To Send Eight to NCAA Track and Field First Round

    A total of eight University at Buffalo athletes have earned invitations to compete in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Region Preliminary Round, the first step to the NCAA National Championships. The regionals are scheduled for May 26-28 at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex in Bloomington.

    University at Buffalo senior track and field sprinter Brian Smith has been named as the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week. Smith shares the final weekly honor of the 2010-11 school year with baseball players Troy White of Northern Illinois and Jon Edgington of Miami (OH).

    With a total of six, by far the most titles ever won in a single day at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the University at Buffalo men’s and women’s track and field teams enjoyed a successful day as the league meet at Northern Illinois came to a conclusion.

    University at Buffalo junior Rob Golabek defended his league title by winning the men’s shot put at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. Most of Friday’s events were unable to be completed due to thunderstorms in the area.

  • Bulls Make Final Tune Ups for MACs at Jim Thorpe Open

    The University at Buffalo men’s and women’s track and field teams made their final preparations for next weekend’s Mid-American Conference Championships with some strong showings at Penn State’s Jim Thorpe Open. The Bulls and host Nittany Lions were the only Division I programs in the field as the meet included several other Division II and III programs and junior colleges.
