AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams made their final preparations for the upcoming Mid-American Conference Championships as they completed action at Akron's Campbell/Wright Open on Saturday.
UB won three events and posted three second-place finishes as MAC squads from Akron and Kent State as well as other Ohio programs from Youngstown State and Notre Dame College competed in the non-scoring meet.
Shaun Brummert won the men's 800-meter run in 1:54.64. Brummert took the race by three-tenths of a second ahead of Akron's Willie Brown (1:54.93).
Natalie Fildes won the women's 200-meters in 25.67, just two-hundredths of a second off her season-best time (25.65) set at Cornell's Big Red Invitational on April 25.
The Bulls posted the top two spots in the women's 3,000-meters asEllen Muster won the race in 10:48.93, her first time in the event.Emma Denton finished second in the race in 10:51.28, lowering her season-best time by nine seconds.
The Bulls host the MAC Championships from May 13-15.
