BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's diving program capped off a successful weekend for the program, which saw the swim team defeat Duquesne 277-79 earlier on Friday, as they claimed victory in the 3-meter dive event, as well as a second place finish in both the 1-meter and platform dives, this weekend at the UB Diving Invite held at the Alumni Arena Natatorium.
It was freshman diver Jae Sarkis who spearheaded the Bulls' efforts this weekend, as the young diver collected second place in the first event of the invite on Friday, the 1-meter dive event, collecting a score of 251.15 after six diving attempts. Sophomore Journi Northorp also impressed in the event, claiming a podium finish good for third place with a score of 243.95, besting the fourth placed diver from St. Bonaventure by just .70. Olivia Dillon would claim the victory in the event for Ohio, as the senior earned a score of 264.50 for the Bobcats.
In Saturday's 3-meter diving event, Sarkis would collect an individual victory for Buffalo, earning a score of 267.05 with Northorp right behind in second place with a score of 257.55. Toledo diver Joelle Gallais would round out the top-three on the leaderboard, diving to a score of 255.75.
For Sunday's platform dive event, Sarkis once again led the way for Buffalo, collecting a score of 225.20 in five diving attempts. Northorp also ended her weekend on a high note, claiming third place in the event with a score of 209.75. Freshman Patricia Arceri placed fourth in the field of eight divers, earning a score of 197.90.
The Bulls will look to carry the success had this weekend as they head to Ypsilanti, Mich. next weekend, returning to MAC play for a dual meet against the Eagles.
