TOLEDO, OH - The UB women's swimming and diving team continued their season success on Saturday against Toledo. In a total team effort by winning 12 of the 16 events and defeating the Rockets, 177-123. With the win, the Bulls improve to 5-1 and 3-1 in conference action.
Buffalo started off the meet by winning the first four events and earning 38 points from the first-place finishes alone. They added fourteen points from the other placements in those events. Hannah Miller and Jessica Powers finished first and second place with times of 10:23.25 and 10:30.00, respectively, in the 1000 yard freestyle. Powers improved her season-best time in the event by more than 30 seconds.
Megan Burns won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.11, while Jula Box swam the 100 yard backstroke in 57.54 seconds. Saoirse Palu-Benson narrowly beat Julie Schmidt to win the 200 yard butterfly. Sarah Baxter and Eve Kosten finished first and second, respectively, in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Bulls added first and second place finishes in both the 100 yard fly and 400 yard IM. Julia Box and Sarah Baxter finished the 100 yard fly with times of 57.26 and 57.36, while Hannah Miller and Victoria Butler paced the 400 yard IM by finishing the event in 4:33.56 and 4:36.24, respectively.
Abbey Croce led the way in diving by placing first in both the one-meter and three-meter dive. She scored 262.58 in the one-meter dive and 262.80 in the three-meter dive.
With the win, the Bulls finish 3-1 in the MAC dual meets for the first time since the 2010-11 season. UB is back in action on Friday, February 5 when they travel to St. Bonaventure before hosting their final dual meet of the season on Saturday against Cleveland State. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
