Bulls Climb to Second Place in Day Two of the MAC Championships

BUFFALO, NY - Mike Dugan won his second title of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships to highlight day two of action on Friday at the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The senior won the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.32, breaking his own school record. As a team, the University at Buffalo is in second place at the conclusion of day two.

"We're not where we want to be, but this is where we are," head coach Andy Bashor said. "We have a challenge before us tomorrow and I'm excited to see how our guys respond."

Dan O'Connor also broke a school record in the 400 individual medley. The senior finished second in the race with a time of 3:50.35. The previous record of 3:55.60 was set Eric Culver last season. The Bulls earned a lot of points in the race as Charles Barry finished fourth, Eric Culver sixth, Billy Patrum seventh, Bill Caffee ninth and Reid Zyniecki 10th.

UB took second in the 200 medley relay. The team of Phil Aronica, Scott Huang, Dugan and Antonio Lanzi finished with a season-best time of 1:28.64.

In other events, Lanzi placed eighth in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 1:39.86.

In the final event of the evening, UB finished third in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of O'Connor, Lanzi, Aaron Durrence and Eric Jensen had a season-best time of 6:37.15.

The Championships conclude tomorrow at the Alumni Arena Natatorium.
