COLUMBUS, OH – Five Members of the University at Buffalo men's and women's swimming team traveled to Columbus, OH to compete in the Ohio State Winter Invite over the weekend and produced some solid results. UB competed against swimmers from Ohio State, Penn State, Wright State, Akron, Ball State, Toledo and Eastern Michigan in the two-day event that concluded on Sunday.
On Saturday, all five Bulls that competed swam season-best times in every event. Callum Liddiard took fifth in both the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:38.39 and the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:08.08.
Liddiard edged out teammate Joseph Martin who finished with a time of 4:08.79 in the 400 IM. Martin also took sixth place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.90.
Jacob Hoffmar-Glennon shaved two seconds off his season-best time to finish fourth in the 100 backstroke (51.73).
Standout performances continued on Sunday.
Liddiard swam a season best in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:57.08 to finish fourth. He also finished seventh in the 1,650 freestyle (16:15.22).
Martin finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:07.87. He also placed fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:00.22).
Hoffmar-Glennon posted a season-best time of 1:54.13 in the 200 backstroke to finish third.
Grimm recorded season-best times in both the 200 freestyle (1:59.82) to place sixth and the 50 freestyle (25.48) to finish seventh.
Melofchik placed fifth in the 50 freestlye (25.41) and eighth in the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 2:10.44.
Up next for the Bulls are the Women's Mid-American Conference Championships beginning February 27 at the Spire Institute in Ohio.
