UB Swimming & Diving Sweeps St. Bonaventure


ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a non-conference dual meet at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. The men defeated the Bonnies, 171-129, while the women were victorious, 164-114.

Dan O'Connor paced the men's team with three individual wins. The UB senior won the 1,000 freestyle (9:24.37), 500 freestyle (4:35.52) and 400 individual medley (4:06.55).

Mike Dugan won the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.97. Scott Huang was victorious in the 200 breastroke (2:07.76). Dugan and Huang joined Phil Aronica and Andrew Cole-Goins to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.67.

Charles Barry won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.99.

In the diving well, Cade Bennett took the one-meter title with a score of 295.13.

Jessica Powers and Brittney Kuras each won two individual events for the women and teamed with Marissa Murphy and Rachael Ragen to win the 200 freestyle relay.

Powers was also victorious in the 1,000 freestyle (10:17.04) and the 500 freestyle (5:02.18).

Kuras won the 50 and 100 freestyle events with times of 23.52 and 51.88, respectively.

Other winners for the women's squad were Alexis Valedon (100 breaststroke), Marisa Pulaski (200 backstroke) and Spencer Rodriguez (400 individual medley).

Ava Giachino won both the one-meter (247.12) and three-meter (295.87) diving events.

Buffalo will return to Mid-American Conference action on Saturday when it hosts Miami (OH) at the Alumni Arena Natatorium at 1 pm.
