2012-13: Broke her own school record in the 100 freestyle (48.79) to win her heat and finish 19th overall the NCAA Championships. Named the MAC Most Oustanding Swimmer for the second straight season. At the MAC Championships, she won three individual titles taking the 100- and 200-yard freestyles as well as the 200-yard individual medley to defend her league crown in all three races. She was part of UB's winning 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams. Also earned All-MAC First Team honors for the second straight year. Named to the CSCAA Academic First Team. Earned the Clifford C. Furnas Award, which recognizes a student-athlete with outstanding undergraduate performance in scholarship and athletic competition.
2011-12: Named team MVP and the MAC Most Outstanding Swimmer earning All-MAC First Team honors at the league meet. Won the 200 IM (1:59.84), 200 freestyle (1:46.30) and 100 freestyle (48.90), setting UB and Akron pool records in all three races. Part of four UB record setting relays at the MAC Championships as the Bulls won 200 free relay (1:30.45) and 400 free relay (3:19.83) and finished fifth in the 400 medley relay (3:43.90) and sixth in the 800 medley relay (7:27.06). Became the first female swimmer to represent UB at the NCAA Division I Championships, setting school records in two of her three races. Finished 24th in the 200 freestyle (school record 1:45.87), 32nd in the 100 freestyle (49.15) and 35th in the 200 IM (school record 1:59.67). Earned first team Mid-Major All-American honors from Collegeswimming.com and was named a first-team CSCAA Academic All-American and SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete award winner.
Previous College: Competed as a freshman at Rutgers University. Finished 10th in the 200 IM and 11th in the 100 freestyle at the 2010 Big East Championships.
High School: Graduated from Canandaigua Academy. Raced for coach Deborah Weymouth. Part of the Braves’ 200 free relay state championship team.
Personal: Born December 30, 1990. Daughter of Joe and Lisa Kuras. Majoring in psychology.
