BUFFALO, NY – After going 1-1-1 in their series with Central Michigan over the weekend, the University at Buffalo softball team will travel to Akron, OH for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday.
Game one is scheduled to start at 1 pm, with the second game beginning at approximately 3 pm.
The Bulls took game one of the series with Central Michigan in dramatic fashion as UB hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to secure the 6-5 walk-off victory. Buffalo dropped a close contest, 3-2, in game two and tied 3-3 in the series finale, as play was halted due to heavy rain.
Sophomore Anna Aguon continues to lead Buffalo at the plate as she improved her average to .400 over the weekend to go along with four home runs, 10 doubles, a triple, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored while slugging .682. Junior Jenelle Martinez also had a solid weekend improving her average to .324 while recording five doubles, a home run, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. In the circle, UB is led by senior Ally Power who has an overall record of 3-12 to go along with a 6.05 ERA and has recorded 41 strikeouts in 93.2 innings of work.
Akron enters Tuesday's games with a 6-18-2 overall record and a 0-5 MAC mark after dropping two games to Western Michigan on Friday. The Zips are led offensively by Sydney Jascoe who is batting .383 with six home runs, six doubles, 19 RBI and 11 runs scored while slugging .679. In the circle, Akron is led by Adrian Smith who has compiled a 4-6 overall record to go along with a 4.45 ERA and has struck out 56 batters across 67.2 innings of work.
Up next, Buffalo will have the weekend off before returning home to host Akron in a single-game on Wednesday, April 10, at 2pm at Nan Harvey Field.
