  • Abby Martin Named Assistant Softball Coach

    University at Buffalo softball head coach Trena Peel has announced the hiring of Abby Martin as assistant coach. Martin, who will be responsible for the UB pitching staff, comes to UB after serving as an assistant coach at SUNY Cortland.
  • Crystl Bustos To Headline UB Softball Elite Camp

    Two-time Olympic gold medalist Crystl Bustos will headline the upcoming University at Buffalo Elite Softball Camp, which is set for the end of August. Bustos, one the greatest hitters in USA softball history, holds the world record for home runs hit in the Olympics. Bustos was named the 2008 USA Softball Player of the Year.
  • Wednesday Softball Clinic Cancelled

    The University at Buffalo softball coaching staff has cancelled this week's hitting and pitching clinic on July 16. The weekly Wednesday clinics will resume next Wednesday on July 23.
  • Curtiss and Gallardo Named to Academic All-MAC Team

    In a record-setting season for the UB softball team, a pair of starters were named to the Mid-American Conference's All-Academic team on Monday. Senior Sammi Gallardo and junior Alexis Curtiss made the 22-member team, while senior Heather Ryder was honorable mention.
  • Softball Announces Camp Schedule Changes

    The UB softball staff announced a pair of changes to the upcoming summer camp schedule. The June 25 pitching showcase has been cancelled, and the weekly pitching clinic that was scheduled to begin July 2 will instead start on July 9.   • UB Softball Kids Camp Set For Saturday

    The University at Buffalo softball program will begin its 2014 Summer Camp schedule this saturday when they host a one-day Kid's Camp at Nan Harvey Field. The camp is for those ages 5-12. The camp will last from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and will cost $50.
  • Heather Ryder Continues Softball Career In Netherlands

    University at Buffalo softball senior Heather Ryder has agreed to continue her softball career as she will be playing for the Hoofddorp Pioniers in the Netherlands. The Hoofddorp Pioniers are part of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation.
  • Holly Luciano Named NFCA Third-Team All-District

    Senior Holly Luciano was named third-team NFCA Mideast All-Region on Thursday afternoon, the first UB player named to that list since 2008. Luciano was one of three UB players that was named first-team All-MAC this year as she led the Bulls to a 30-22 record and a MAC East Division Title.
  • Historic Season Ends In MAC Championship Game

    The most successful season in University at Buffalo softball history came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls fell to Ohio, 4-0, in the MAC Championship Game. UB’s season comes to a close at 30-22, it’s most every victories and just the second time since joining Division I that the Bulls have finished a year over .500.

    The University at Buffalo softball team advanced to its first MAC Softball Championship game on Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Northern Illinois to stave off elimination. The Bulls will have a rematch with Ohio for the title.
  • Bulls Fall Short In Marathon MAC Tournament Game

    Two of the top pitchers in the Mid-American Conference went up against each other on Friday and one swing of the bat in the top of the 13th inning was the difference as Ohio defeated Buffalo, 2-0, in the winner’s bracket final, snapping UB’s eight-game winning streak. The Bulls now have two win three times on Saturday to claim a MAC Title.
  • Bulls Roll Past Central Michigan At MAC Tournament

    The University at Buffalo softball team won its eighth straight game on Thursday as the Bulls defeated Central Michigan, 12-1, in five innings. It was the first time that UB has ever won twice in the same MAC Tournament. The Bulls are now 29-20 on the season. UB will face Ohio on Friday at 5pm with a trip to the Championship Game at stake.
  • Bulls Take MAC Tournament Opener, 11-6

    For the first time in school history the University at Buffalo softball team won its MAC Tournament opener, defeating Northern Illinois, 11-6. The Bulls scored runs in all six innings that it batted in, beginning with a four-run first inning. UB is now 28-20 on the year, increasing its school record for wins in a season.
  • Bulls Sweep Final MAC Player Of The Week Awards

    The University at Buffalo softball team swept the final MAC East Player of the Week awards on Tuesday morning, the conference announced from it's league headquarters. Senior Tori Speckman was named the MAC East Pitcher of the Week for a second straight week and for the fifth time this season, while junior Hayley Barrow was named the MAC East Player of the Week.
  • Bulls Place Three On All-MAC First Team

    The University at Buffalo softball team continued to racked up the awards on Tuesday afternoon as three UB players were named to the All-MAC First Team, the first time that three players have been honored postseason. Seniors Tori Speckman, Holly Luciano, and Sammi Gallardo were all honored after they led the Bulls to their first ever Mid-American Conference East Division Title.

    Solo home runs from Holly Luciano and Hayley Barrow were all the Bulls needed on Sunday afternoon as the University at Buffalo softball team clinched their first MAC East Title with a 2-0 victory over Kent State.

    The University at Buffalo softball team put forth one of its most complete efforts of the season and the only thing that was able to slow the Bulls down temporarily was the weather. UB went on to defeat Kent State, 9-0, as the Bulls clinched at least a share of the MAC East Division Title. Senior Tori Speckman pitched her second no hitter of the season as the Bulls won their fifth straight conference road game.
  • Softball Closes Out Regular Season At Kent State

    The University at Buffalo softball team concludes the regular season this weekend at Kent State as they continue to prepare for next week's Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Golden Flashes will become just the third team from the MAC East that the Bulls will meet this year with games slated for Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Sammi Gallardo was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, while senior Tori Speckman was named the MAC East Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
  • Bulls Complete Weekend Sweep With 6-2 Win At Northern Illinois

    The 2014 University at Buffalo softball team continued to write history on Sunday afternoon as for the first time since joining the MAC in 2001 the Bulls swept a four-game weekend road series with a 6-2 win at Northern Illinois. The victory was UB’s 25th of the season, tying the 2004 and 2009 teams for the most wins in school history. The Bulls also improved to 9-5 in MAC play.

    The University at Buffalo softball team received another big day from senior Sammi Gallardo, who became UB’s all-time career leader in home runs on Friday, hitting three overall, as the Bulls swept a pair of games from Western Michigan. UB won the opener 6-2 and then came from behind to win the second game 6-5 in eight innings.

    Head coach Trena Peel has announced the addition of four student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent for the upcoming season. These four will join six other incoming players for the 2014-15 season.

    The University at Buffalo softball team left 11 runners on base Sunday afternoon and was unable to hold on to a late lead as the Bulls fell to Toledo, 6-2, in eight innings. Today’s game was UB’s final one at Nan Harvey Field.

    Senior Tori Speckman pitched a four-hit shutout on Saturday afternoon as the University at Buffalo softball team defeated Toledo, 2-0, at Nan Harvey Field. The victory improves the Bulls to 21-19 and 5-4 in Mid-American Conference play.

    The University at Buffalo softball team fell short in both ends of its doubleheader on Friday against Bowling Green, losing the first game, 6-1, and then falling in the second game, 12-11. UB is now 20-19 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.
