Men’s Tennis Brings Five to ITA Northeast Regionals

NEW HAVEN, CT – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team continues their fall season as five UB players have qualified for the ITA Northeast Regionals, which are being held by Yale.

In singles action, sophomore Villhelm Fridell has received a first round bye, as he is seeded in the 17-32 range.  Sophomore Hao Sheng Koay is also in the 17-32 range for seeding and has been given a first round bye.

Senior Vidit Vaghela also qualified for the singles main draw where he will play Andrei Crapcenco in the opening round and junior Ethan Nittolo will face Anthony Arocho from Brown, who advanced into the main draw after playing in the qualifying rounds. Senior Petr Vodak will face Alan Nunez Aguilera from St. John's in the first round.

In doubles, Fridell and Vodak are seeded in the 9-16 range and will play Arocho and his partner from Brown, while Nittolo and Sheng Koay will play in the opening match against their opponents from Lehigh.

There will be action each day, with the tournament concluding on Monday.
