Men’s Tennis Finishes Action At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, OK – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team sent several individuals to Tulsa, OK for the 2017 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships, which were held over the last week.

Senior Petr Vodak had the most success for UB as he reached the round of 64 in the pre-qualifying part of the tournament.  After receiving a bye in the opening round, Vodak defeated Stefan Gonzalez of UAB, 7-6 (5), 6-2, to move into the round of 64.  Teammate Vidit Vaghela also took part in the pre-qualifiers, but he lost his opening match to Michael Kay of Georgia Tech and dropped his consolation match to Koby Jansen of UTRGV.

Junior Ethan Nittolo took part in the qualifying draw of the tournament where he lost his opening match to Carlos Divar of Georgia Tech and his consolation match to Josh Peck of North Carolina.

In doubles action, Nittolo and Vodak teamed up in the qualifying round, but they lost their opening match 6-2, 7-6 (5) to their opponents from Mississippi State.

The Bulls will regroup and get ready for the ITA Northeast Regionals, which are hosted by Yale.  Those will begin on Wednesday, October 18.
