Two Final Four Teams Highlight Non-Conference Schedule

BUFFALO, NY – Second-year head coach Bobby Hurley has announced a challenging non-conference schedule for the 2014-15 season, which includes Kentucky and Wisconsin, both teams that reached the Final Four last season.

The Bulls, who won their first ever outright East division title in 2013-14, will open the season at Alumni Arena in a doubleheader with the women's team as the men will host South Dakota State on Friday, November 14.  This game will make up a meeting between the two schools that was cancelled last season due to weather.

Following the opener, the Bulls will take place in a Multiple Team Event that will see them play four games in 10 days, with three of those on the road.  UB will open the event at national runner-up Kentucky on Nov. 16.  The Wildcats finished the season ranked second in the final USA Today Coaches Poll. The Bulls will then head down to The Lone Star State where it will face Texas-Arlington on Nov. 18.  The event continues on Friday, Nov. 21 when the Bulls host Montana State at Alumni Arena before wrapping it up on Nov. 25 at Grand Canyon, who is coached by NBA great, Dan Majerle.

A stretch of six games in 16 days will wrap up on Saturday, November 29, as the Bulls will face cross-town rival Canisius at the First Niagara Center.  This will be the second straight year that the Bulls and Griffs meet downtown.

December will begin with a pair of road games, starting on Dec. 3 at St. Bonaventure.  The Bulls will then travel to Robert Morris on Dec. 7 before returning home for two games.  The Bulls will face Drexel on Dec. 16 and host Niagara on Dec. 19.

Following the Christmas break, the Bulls will head to Wisconsin on Dec. 28 for a contest with the Badgers, who lost in the Final Four to Kentucky.  Wisconsin finished 4th in the final USA Today Coaches Poll.  The Bulls will then head to Binghamton on Dec. 30 before wrapping up non-conference play after the new year with a home game against Cornell on Jan. 3.  UB will open with an exhibition game against Wheeling Jesuit on Nov. 6.

"We wanted to challenge ourselves in the non-conference season and we certainly accomplished that," said Hurley.  "These are the types of games that the guys we are recruiting expect to play each year as we move forward."

The Mid-American Conference schedule will be release later this summer.  Season tickets for the upcoming 2014-15 season will go on sale on July 21st.  During the early renewal period in late March, 65% of the fan base has already renewed for the upcoming season. Also, due to increased demand, additional courtside seats have been created 2014-15.
