BUFFALO, NY – Charlie Sobieraski and Logan Harasta combined to pitch a six-hit shutout as the University at Buffalo baseball team defeated Bowling Green, 4-0, in the second game of a three-game series on Friday afternoon at Amherst Audubon Field. It was the Bulls first shutout of a Mid-American Conference opponent since a 6-0 win at Miami (OH) on April 12, 2015.
Sobieraski was in control for most of the game as he allowed only five hits and struck out seven over seven innings for his fifth win of the season. Harasta allowed only one hit over the final two innings to earn his third save of the year.
Buffalo (20-31, 7-16 MAC) took the lid off a scoreless game with two outs in the bottom of the third inning when Chris Kwitzer doubled home Vinny Mallaro to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. Andrew Taft followed with an RBI single to score Kwitzer and the Bulls led 2-0 after three innings of play.
The Bulls totaled nine hits in the game, led by Taft and Brian Dudek who each had a pair of singles.
The Bulls will host Bowling Green in the season finale tomorrow afternoon at Amherst Audubon Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
